Dance Floor Etiquette
After
a few decades of doing this stuff, one tends to pick up a few things to share:
-
Don't
smoke on the dance floor (Obviously, I'm referring to
outdoor venues).
-
Don't
drink or carry drinks across the dance floor (I always bring a towel
to all my events to wipe the drips off the floor). Besides
the possibility of someone slipping and cracking their gourd, to those off
us who own wooden floors, we know what liquids will do the life of our
investment.
-
Same
goes for food; Crumbs can also ruin a perfectly
ingressive dance floor that never meant you any harm.
-
Clean
up any messes you make; Even if you knock over
someone else's food or drink.
And then, it's always classy to offer to replace whatever objects you
accidentally capsized.
-
Lead
(navigate) your partner thru the dance floor by looking where you are
going (duh!).
-
Be
aware of the others dancing around you (double-duh!).
-
Don't
forget to apologize to anyone you may accidentally bump into (no
matter whose fault you think it may have been).
-
Unless
it's a teen's party where "moshing" may be acceptable, we can all
have fun without purposely knocking into each other.
Come
on, folks...Just have fun!
